Who We Are

Being a non-denominational church means our doctrine and church activity do not come from any denominational assembly. We do not have a Church Headquarters. We do not answer to any denominational board for acceptance or membership. We are independent of any other church rule. We are fully governed from within our own body. We are closely connected in fellowship, activity, cooperation, and teachings with other churches of Christ. However, among churches of Christ, no individual congregation is exactly like another one in any of the areas above.

Being Christ centered means Jesus is why we exist. We hold that Jesus of Nazareth was a real historical figure. He is revealed in the Bible to be God in the flesh, to have lived a perfect human life. Jesus is our representative and offered his life as a sacrifice to pay for all the debt owed to God because of sin. We trust the testimony of eye witnesses who recorded that they were with Him in His ministry, they saw Him die by crucifixion, buried in a tomb, saw Him alive again and witnessed Him ascend into the sky to never die again. They declared Jesus to be God, King, and Savior of all for all ages. Jesus is whom we follow. We are called by Him to enter into a personal relationship with God through His Holy Spirit. We pattern our lives after His life. We take our orders from only Him. He promises to come back one day and take all who are His to a new and perfect dwelling place. He says He will be with us and work with us until He comes back. Our purpose is to continue His ministry and teaching on earth and to tell as many people as we can about Him. He is our Savior, God, King, and Friend.

What we mean by Bible believing is that we are confident in the claim that “All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness…” (II Timothy 3:16 NASV). We believe the Bible is God’s written revelation to us. We study the Bible as a means to learn of God and His desire for us. Our goal is to apply the principles we find in the Old Testament and the New Testament for holy living.

Holy-Spirit Led

The promise of God is to give His Holy Spirit to each person who is saved by Jesus. (Act 2:38). The church of Jesus is the dwelling place of God through His Spirit. Each Christian is the temple of the Holy Spirit. (I Corinthians 3:16 and 6:19). Jesus is the Head of His church. He lives with His disciples and guides them through fellowship with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit works in us to give us the power, love, and wisdom we need to be as Jesus wants. (Ephesians 3:14-21). We trust the Spirit for guidance in understanding and applying the scriptures, for guidance in knowing God through Jesus Christ, and for guidance in making us the holy people of God.

Family of Believers

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household…” (Ephesians 2:19 NASV). Westlink is a family of God striving to live and work together in the love and peace of Christ. Our goal is to help each other in the family move toward his or her greatest potential in God.
